Immersing New Utensils in a Mikveh

Question

We bought new pots and a frying pan. I heard that one must immerse utensils in a mikveh before using them. Is this an obligation for every utensil? And what does one do when there is no keilim mikveh nearby?

Shalom u'verachah. Insofar as the utensils were not manufactured by a Jew, they must be immersed in a mikveh keilim. There is an obligation to immerse every utensil, and there is a difference in the wording of the brachah depending on whether one is immersing only a single utensil or several utensils. The poskim mention several ways to permit the use of a utensil without immersion, insofar as there is no possibility of immersing it (such as Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim, siman 323, se'if 7). In any case, in practice, since this is a positive mitzvah from the Torah and involves the kashrut of the home, then insofar as there is no great constraint one should travel to the nearby mikveh keilim and immerse the utensils (it is also possible to immerse utensils in the sea).
