Tiferet Tzvi Synagogue
Privacy policy
The Tiferet Tzvi synagogue website is an informational site. Browsing it requires no registration, and we collect no personal data about you beyond what is described here. This policy follows the spirit of the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law (1981), as amended.
What is not on this site
No tracking cookies, no analytics tools, no advertising. We do not sell data and do not pass it to commercial parties.
"Ask the Rabbi"
The form asks for no name, phone or email - a question is sent anonymously. Providing information is entirely voluntary: nobody is required to send a question, and personal details inside the question text are your choice alone.
The question text is stored in a secured Cloudflare database in Europe, screened and translated with the help of an AI service (Anthropic's Claude), and sent by email to the answering rabbi. An answer is published on the site only if the rabbi decides to publish it, in a generalized form without identifying details.
Retention: a question that did not pass screening is deleted within about 7 days; a question the rabbi declined - within about 90 days; the original text of a published question is deleted within about 30 days, and the processing record within a year.
To enforce the daily limit on submissions we keep a salted hash of your IP address; the IP address itself is neither stored nor logged.
The "yishar koach" button
A press is recorded with a random identifier created in your browser and a hash of the IP address (to limit votes) - no name and no personal details.
Bot protection
Form submission is verified with Cloudflare Turnstile, which processes connection data (such as the IP address) under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Data that stays in your browser
Local storage (localStorage) keeps: the language you chose, which "tzadik of the month" you already greeted, and the tracking links of questions you sent. This data stays on your device, we never see it, and you can remove it by clearing the site's data in your browser.
Third parties
The site is hosted and served by Cloudflare. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts servers, so when the site loads Google receives your device's IP address, as with any resource loaded from the web.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Privacy Law you may review the data held about you and ask for its correction or deletion. Because questions are anonymous, we can locate a question only by the tracking link you received when sending it. Privacy enquiries: the synagogue's gabbai, phone +972 50-746-1721.
